Internship Training Experience
OSK Holdings Bhd. (January 2015 - March 2015)
My Roles & Responsibilities

A.
Assisting the Business Process Team in Process Flow Drawings using Microsoft Visio
Assisting the Business Process team in process flow drawings is my main role during the course of my three months internship. I was first taught on how to master the skills of using Microsoft Visio from my mentor during the first few weeks of my internship.
I was later on taught on the importance of adhering to the team's standard practices in designing process flows to ensure that a set of consistent and quality work can be produced throughout.
After the 3 months period, I have successfully completed more than 100 pages of process flow drawings using Microsoft Visio and have familiarized myself with the usage of the software.

B.
Assisting in the Swiss-Garden Hotel Kuala Lumpur Project (In-charge of Front Office Department Process Flow)
Assisting in the Swiss-Garden Hotel project was my most exciting role yet. I was fascinated to be given the task of taking care the Front Office Department process flow with the assistance of teammates.
The Front Office Department comprises of Reservation, Business Center, Front Desk and Concierge.
Hence, during the course of this project, we were conducting interviews with the managers and staffs from the respective department of the hotel to gain information. I was also required to read through all the standard procedures policies and manuals that they currently have to gain a better understanding of the various business processes that they are practicing.
However, since I was only given the role at the end of February, I could not complete the whole Front Office Department's processes in time and have to handover the unfinished task to my colleagues before I left the company.
It was a shame because it was a great challenge and I wish I could finish the project that I have started with.

C.
Assisting Head of Business Process Team in Research Conduct
Assisting my team leader in research conduct was a bit-part role that had been assigned to me before we started the Swiss-Garden Hotel project. As a preperation for the hotel project, my boss wanted to know more about the Property Management System (PMS) that the hotel currently uses and at the same time, wanted to know what are some of other popular PMS that is available in the market currently.
He gave me the task of conducting a research on different types of PMS in the market, its cost and benefits of each system and an overall comparison of the systems with the current system used. I was then required to present my findings to him and give some advises and opinion.
I have generally no knowledge of property management systems previously but with this assignment, I have learnt about how these system works and how it could assist property management greatly.
In addition, I was also asked to conduct a little research on something called "Six Sigma". It simply means a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. It is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects. He wants to apply this to one of his upcoming project in the power cable business that is also under PJD Group and hence, wants to know how this theory could help him. I was required to make a research and present him with ideas how this practice can be applied in the power cable business.
